Our Partner in Seychelles, Mr Pierre Prosper

Our partner in Seychelles, Mr Pierre Prosper is the Managing Director for Seychelles Shipping Agency and Brokerage (SSAB). He has a portfolio of high value properties which are on the market for sale. He is contracted as a Marketing and Sales Agent for Kinput Ltd, the owner of Bel Ombre Bliss in Seychelles. He has subcontracted Kutlwelo Properties to market Bel Ombre Bliss.

Mr Prosper holds an MPhys and an MSc. He has a double Masters in Theoretical Physic and Shipping, Trade and Finance graduate from Universities in the United Kingdom.

He specializes in international Ship Management, Project Development and Management, Property Marketing and Sales. He has many years of experience working in the shipping and oil sectors. His shipping experience includes being the owner’s representative and new build supervisor in a high-quality German shipyard.

He has charter broking experience working for a UK – based broking house and was overseer of charter contracts and operations of worldwide trading tankers.

He started his career in the oil sector. He was employed in various managerial positions including Operations, Technical, Quality Assurance and in Standards and Quality. He supervised the crewing and training department from March 2013. He supports potential investors who are looking to start up projects in the Seychelles islands, across all domains, including in marine, shipping, and property development and property investment.

Dr Maureen Tong – COO

Dr Maureen Tong is the chairwoman of Kutlwelo Group. She serves on the Board of Legal Aid South Africa. She is a Member of the Council of the University of KwaZulu- Natal.

She is an international lawyer, an executive coach; trainer; published author; and a businesswoman. She holds a PhD in international law from the Université de Strasbourg in France, where she successfully defended her thesis in French. She was awarded BIuris; LLB and LLM by the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

She worked as Project Officer for Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Namibia at the African Management Services Company (AMSCO) implementing the African Training Management Services (ATMS) a Project of the World Bank, African Development Bank (AfDB), International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

She provides parttime Company Secretariat function at the Women’s Development Banking (WDB) Trust where she was Research Manager. She is a Board Member at PingLady, the incubator for women in technology. She is the chairwoman of InvesTong Group
Dr Tong is a part-time lecturer at Wits Business School (WBS) where she teaches Leadership; Talent Management; Diversity Management and Inclusion as well as Change Management.
She has trained executives and managers from international companies like IKEA; JCDecaux; Chrysler; Mercedes Benz; Giesecke and Devrient; and South African companies like Eskom Provident and Pension Fund; Rohlig Grindrod; SAA; Bidvest Protea Coin, etc.

Dr Tong is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) of the International Coach Federation (ICF). She is former Deputy National Secretary of the Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (COMENSA).

She is the Former President of the Pretoria Chapter of Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA).

Dr Tong established the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (TMALI) , now called the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public and International Affairs. She served as Project Manager for the establishment of the Thabo Mbeki Presidential Library (TMPL). Both TMALI and TMPL are projects of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation and University of South Africa (Unisa). She was Deputy Director of the Centre for Human Rights (CHR) at the University of Pretoria. She worked as a Consultant at the John Langalibalele Dube Institute, now called Fuze Institute, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She was Street Law Coordinator at the Centre for Socio – Legal Studies at University of KwaZulu-Natal.
She was the first Chief Operations Officer (COO) at the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and later became Chief of Staff at the same Ministry. More recently she served as Technical Advisor to the Presidential Advisory Panel on Land Reform and Agriculture in South Africa in 2018/2019. She was Operations Manager a t UNDP South Africa.

Mr Andrew Bamugye, Finance Director

Mr Andrew Bamugye is charged with the development and management of the financial strategy for Kutlwelo Properties. This is to ensure that the company successfully implements its operations.

Mr Bamugye is a Chartered Certified Accountant (CA) with many years of experience as a Private Sector Development Specialist. He holds a master’s in business administration (MBA) and a Masters in Development Finance, both degrees were awarded by the University of Stellenbosch Business School

Mr Bamugye has a keen focus on emerging African markets and development finance. He has practised Accounting, Internal Audit and External Audit. He was Country Director for Zambia for the African Management Services Company (AMSCO) which implements the African Training Management Services (ATMS), a private sector capacity building project of the AfDB, the World Bank, IFC, and UNDP.
Prior to his positing as Country Manager for Zambia, he was Programme Manager for the Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSA) at AMSCO.

He is the Senior Investment Manager SME at the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Investment Bank (TDB) . Established in 1985, TDB is a multilateral, treaty-based, investment-grade development finance institution, with 41 sovereign and institutional shareholders and assets of USD 7.2 bn. TDB serves 22 economies in its region, with the mandate to finance and foster trade, regional economic integration, and sustainable development.

TDB is part of the TDB Group, which also comprises TDF (the Trade and Development Fund), ESATF (the Eastern and Southern African Trade Fund), TCI (TDB Captive Insurance), and the TDB Academy.

TDB provided some investment funding for the Eden Island development in Seychelles

Mr Bamugye is the Founder of Destiny Farms, Uganda. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has recognized Mr Bamugye for his role in promoting agribusiness in his home country of Uganda.

For example, in December 2020, the FAO; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uganda; and the Uganda Agribusiness Association jointly awarded him the Ugandan Diaspora Agribusiness Investor Award. This was in recognition of his commitment to improving agriculture and employment in his home country, Uganda.

Mr Bamugye plays the financial management role for the entire Kutlwelo Group.
